No Long Goodbyes...

Ron Brignac, Chadd's Ford, PA, (November 2018)

Open note to the 21 wonderful students who made my first semester so fulfilling and memorable....

Even though this is our last formal class meeting, I'm certain that I'll see everyone in the spring semester (all the time)... so no long goodbyes. It's going to be much harder to say goodbye at graduation in May.

I think the class had many high-points, but a few really stand out. One was the unforgettable first day of zine readings. The second day was also amazing, but that first day left me with the goosebumps. Another great class was our discussion about Solanas and Woolf. Then there was the time I pretended to be Hamm from Beckett's Endgame. That was just bizarre, but appropriately so.

I recognize several mistakes: my difficulty in sticking to the class schedule resulted in a little bit of vertigo. I'll do better in future semesters. Also, I'll try to do better in returning your written work in a timely fashion. These are elements of teaching that I've always struggled with, but I am earnestly trying to improve.

Thank you for everything, especially for teaching me to be more open-minded.  You'll always be my first class of DCAD students; nothing can change this.

I will have all of your written work ready to hand back to you in January. Just ask, and I will deliver.

All for now... happy holidays...  Casey

PS: I am available for writing recommendation letters, just let me know.
