Reading/Writing Assignment for November 14: Conceptual Poetry

For Wednesday's class, read the introductory essays in Kenneth Goldsmith and Craig Dworkin's anthology of conceptual writing Against Expression. (Don't forget to read the notes to Dworkin's essay.)

After reading and taking notes on these two essays, go to the ubuweb main page and enter the name of one of the works mentioned by Goldsmith or Dworkin. Find something that seems interesting or curious. The search box is under the head of Samuel Beckett. After reading/experiencing your chosen work, write a single meaty paragraph that describes what it is, how it works, and your evaluation of it. Type this essay, revise and proofread it, and bring it to class on Wednesday, November 14.
