PDFs for Saunders, Whitehead, and Ozick

This link should take you to our Populi Files page. You can also find it directly on our course page on the Files tab. Thanks, Nancy, for sending these PDFs. It will save a lot of headaches.

Does anyone want to talk about the upcoming paper? Our discussion felt a little bit flat this afternoon. I think people are kind of exhausted. It's OK. We'll rebound.

For your draft (due Monday by 3 pm), find and develop a quirky and non-obvious interpretation about your chosen story. You will be quoting a primary source (your chosen story) and at least one secondary source (a source that, like you, is writing about the primary source, directly or indirectly).

Your classmate Ash asked a great question in the hall as we were leaving the classroom, "Can I use my 'I' voice in this essay?" The answer is yes. However, the essay is not really about you, it's about your interpretation. You already exist within your interpretation because it's yours. Keep that in mind.
