End of the Semester Reminders

At the beginning of class this Wednesday, I'm going to review the entire semester to remind us all of the ground we've covered (in addition to the ground we were unable to cover in such a quick survey).

Also during class on Wednesday, you will be writing your official DCAD evaluation on Populi, and you'll also be writing an open-ended narrative evaluation for my own uses as I redesign this course in following semesters.

After today, only three class sessions remain.

Wednesday, December 4: Be prepared to discuss to the class at large your topic and your position on it (also known as the argument, claim, or thesis). Are you choosing a particular author? Maybe a particular theme that multiple authors share? Maybe an unheralded genre such as video gaming? The choice is yours. Ask "why-based" questions.

Monday, December 9: Your final one-page essay is due at the start of class. Bring two printed copies with you to class. Each student will have about five minutes for a casual presentation. If you focus on why you chose this focus for your final paper, it will be hard to go wrong. Be specific and use concrete detail. Remember to proofread.

Wednesday, December 11: Bring to class your revised and edited Beat Generation paper (staple the original version to the back of your new one).
Likewise, print out and bring your revised and edited one-pager to class (staple your original version to the back of your new one).

Be ready to discuss the broad topic: "What is the future of literature?"

Questions:  csmith@dcad.edu

Reminder: I'll be the writing tutor the following two Tuesdays (3rd and 10th) and two Thursdays (5th and 12th).
